Walter Brooks

Founder–CEO

Chef Walter Brooks has always loved two things: people and food. As a young man he
discovered his passion for people while working in hotel management in Atlanta. He enjoyed is
work but was curious and hungry for something new– always reading books.
Life took a turn for the worse in 2001 however, as a botched appendectomy left Walter on the
edge of death. God had other plans however, and after our additional abdominal surgeries,
Walter was left on a slow but sure road to recovery. During this time, he continued to read,
ultimately finding material on being a chef the most fascinating.
Walter began to experiment with cooking techniques at home. He developed recipes as well as
created sauces and rubs to grill with. It wasn’t long until word got out about his signature sauces
and he began to sell to friends and family– always using fresh, local ingredients coupled with his
culinary imagination. In 2006, Brooks started 3 Brothers Catering and Events and began to
cater gourmet meals across metro Atlanta.
In 2011, Brooks opened “3 Brothers BBQ” restaurant in Johns Creek to assist catering efforts
and provide customers with a high quality and fresh-from-scratch dining experience. Although
much has changed since then, such as the name– moving to “StarBQ House” and implementing
eco-friendly green options for plating food, the level of care and passion for delivering great food
to hungry people is still the same.
Chef Brooks takes traditional southern favorites and elevates them to a level of sophistication
with upscale presentation and downhome taste. He is always the first in the kitchen and the last
out, ensuring that patrons receive the highest quality taste and service.
When not preparing his gourmet dishes, Mr. Brooks serves his community as an active member
of his St. James United Methodist Church. He participates in a variety of philanthropic activities
and is a mentor to young African American men via the North Chapter of the “100 Black Men of
Atlanta”. He lives in Alpharetta with his wife of 21 years, daughter and son.
A man of faith bove all else, Brooks maintans that, “God is the sole architect for all the trials
and triumphs alike and He is the reason I am still standing.”
Chef Brooks looks forward to serving you when you come and hang your hat for a good meal.
After all, “Its your house!”
